Black Stone Books

.The layout of Black Stone Books is such that it offers customers and interested individuals plenty of space to move around and browse through the selection of products on display. Audio tapes and video cassettes can be heard or viewed before purchase via the shops audio/video sound system. Customers can also take advantage of the comfortable seating area while deciding on their purchases. The interior is clean, uncluttered, freshly decorated and with a professional look to match any quality bookstore. Only British converts or Muslims with fluent English, and preferably an upbringing in the UK, are chosen to run the store. This is firstly to eliminate the language barrier and also to establish a common base from which non-Muslim customers can begin in any dialogue with the Muslim staff members. It also helps to correct the prevalent image of Islam as something foreign and strange.

The store also provides a second valuable function is providing quality, authentic materials on Islam for the local Muslim population to improve their own understanding of Islam. Prior to the establishment of Black Stone Books, local Muslims would often travel as far as Birmingham or London to access books, audio and video cassettes, prayer mats and a range of other items. These same products are now only walking distance from many people's homes.

This is a non-profit making enterprise run under the auspices of Kafel, a UK-based Muslim charitable organisation. May Allah subhanahu wa t'ala will Bless this project with success, allowing us to correct misconceptions and provide a platform for dialogue between Muslims and non-Muslims locally. Ameen thumma Ameen.
